Result?All 3 of these videos have exactly 0 backlinks, NADA, not a single site has considered linking to this content.

But why?

Because some content are more link-elicious than others. Here are 4 types of content that are more likely to get backlinks:

• Controversial news or entertainment
• How-to guides and tutorials
• Research and case studies
• Free stuff & tools

There is still the exception – the jump rope video tutorial. Even though it was a tutorial, it had 0 backlinks.

So, it’s not clear as to what gets backlinks.

2. And select one of your top competitors. In our case, we wanted to check out the top pages for searchengineland.com

Now head over to “View Top Pages”

That’s where you will find your key to backlinks:

Just at a glance, you can see 4 types of content that get backlinks and which are the exact topics that people link to.

Then all you have to do is see if you can create better content than what’s already out there.

For some industries that will be really easy, for some a bit harder.

Once the content is ready, you will need to get the first backlinks to get the ball rolling.

Get More Backlinks for Your Existing Content

It’s second on Google.
